dot.jo has now launched the Economic and Social Council (ESC) website www.esc.jo. Mirrored in Arabic and English, the site provides an active platform through which the organization can interact with its members and the public at large. Visitors to the site can learn more about, and stay up-to-date with, ESC members and activities. An online library makes ESC publications available directly in a web browser or for download. Also available are links to media articles regarding previous announcements of the ESC.
The ESC was established in 2007 to advise the national government on matters regarding the social and economic health of the country, and the policies pertaining to such matters. Meeting bi-monthly to finalize reports, the ESC looks to promote dialogue among relevant parties; assess current and developing economic and social policy; and assist in the royal mandate of sustainable development in economics and social matters.
